Outreach to the Sick, Elderly, and Poor

OUTREACH TO THE SICK, ELDERY, AND POOR

Mr. Mark Beachy

Coordinator Outreach to the Sick, Elderly, Poor

  • Ministry to the Sick

Holy Faith Catholic Church has an active and compassion based outreach ministry to the sick.  We serve fourteen facilities comprised of hospitals, retirement communities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, memory care facilities, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities. We also serve individuals who are homebound patients.

This ministry is made available through a dedicated and well trained group of approximately sixty-five Outreach Communion & Prayer Ministers who visit individuals based on pre-established schedule at each facility.  In some  facilities we provide bedside one-on-one Holy Communion and in other facilities we provide weekly Communion Services for a group of patients.  In a given week we see approximately four hundred patients during our visitation schedule.

We encourage individuals and family members to call the Holy Faith Parish Office and notify us that their loved one is in a facility or has been moved from one facility to another so that we can update the assigned Outreach

Communion & Prayer Ministers to visit the family member at the correct facility.

    WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP?

We seek individuals who have a deep love, devotion and understanding of the Holy Eucharist, a strong empathy for others and a welcoming smile and Christ-like attitude.  We are actively recruiting new Outreach Communion & Prayer Ministers and welcome those who wish to join the ministry.  We provide training, require individuals to complete a background check and participate in a mentoring program at the facility that they wish to serve.  (See Contact Us Button below.)

  • Ministry To The Elderly

Holy Faith Catholic Church has approximately 22% of its adult parish population who are elderly.  These individuals are living alone or with their spouse, but have no other individuals in the residence, may or may not drive and have some limited knowledge of modern day technology in order to stay connected.  Family members are often not living in proximity to Gainesville.  They often desire to stay connected to the Church

community, but desire the Church community to reach out to them.

The Outreach Ministry to the Elderly is starting  "Listening Volunteer Ministry", a group of volunteers who would reach out to our elderly people  via phone, email, chat or if wanted, visitation in person.  These persons  could benefit from engaged conversation and stimulation of shared topics and reading materials. A referral to a professional field person will be made if itis necessary for further assistance.

    WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP?

We are actively recruiting volunteers to serve in the Listening Volunteer Ministry and we welcome those who wish to join the ministry in 2026.  We will provide training, and will require volunteers to complete a bacground check and to participate in a mentoring program. (See Contact us Button below.)

  • Ministry To The Poor

Holy Faith Catholic Church has an active and supportive program for assisting the poor who are in need of assistance in our community. Members and friends of Holy Faith Catholic Church are very generous for our outreach to the poor and we are very appreciative of that continue support.  On a monthly basis there is a collection on the first Sunday of the month that is specifically dedicated for the poor and in need.  Those monies are used to support local charitable organizations monthly to assist them with their community service efforts.  A portion of that monthly collection is retained by Holy Faith and is used, with Pastor’s approval, for allocation to requests that are received here at Holy Faith Church.  Requests approvals are limited to one per family unit withing a rolling calendar year.  Evaluation is conducted with each request received.
